Melbourne and Sydney’s favourite family entertainment continues its well-loved tradition of bringing the animals home to the Royal Botanic Gardens for summer. Over the years an audience of tens of thousands have delighted in the simple pleasures of this rollicking production. Pack a picnic, pack the kids... and join Rat, Mole, Badger, Otter, Portly and, of course, Mr Toad, as they bring to life Kenneth Grahame's immortal story of life on the riverbank.
The Wind in the Willows returns to Melbourne and Sydney in summer 2010/2011. Tickets will go on sale in Spring.
Sydney: 5 to 29 January 2011, Tuesday to Saturday at 11am and 6pm. No performances on 26 January Melbourne: stay tuned!

The Wind in the Willows lasts for approximately 1.5 hours and moves once during the performance to a new location in the gardens (about 200m walk).
WHAT TO BRING: A blanket or cushions to sit on. A picnic full of all the goodies you like to eat and drink. Sunscreen, insect repellent and a hat. Warm clothes for the 6pm show as sometimes it can get cool in the early evening.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT: MELBOURNE: Take the train to Flinders Street Station. Then take a tram (3, 5, 8, 16, 64 or 67) to the Domain Road Interchange. Walk towards the Shrine of Remembrance and on the other side of it you will see Birdwood Avenue and the Observatory Buildings, which are part of the Gardens. With the Shrine behind you continue walking to the right along Birdwood Avenue until you reach Gate F (just past the National Herbarium). See map.
SYDNEY: Train: The nearest station is Martin Place. Other stations close to the Royal Botanic Gardens are St James and Circular Quay. Ferry: An easy walk from Circular Quay. Bus: The 441 (Balmain via QVB Building) leaves York Street, Town Hall on weekdays, stopping outside the Art Gallery of NSW. The Sydney Explorer Bus also includes the Royal Botanic Gardens on its route and the 200 (Chatswood to Bondi stops in Macquarie Street). See map.
DISABLED ACCESS: All performance sites are accessible by paved footpaths, however there are some grassy areas. ASC staff are available to assist if required.
WET WEATHER POLICY: Call 1300 122 344 for a weather update. Usually performances do proceed if there is only very light drizzle. We are also able to transfer your tickets to another performance – call us to arrange this on 1300 122 344 in advance of your booked performance.
If we cancel a performance due to inclement weather your tickets will be valid for another performance during the season (you must call 1300 122 344 to re-book). If, however, it is not possible for you to attend another performance we provide a cheque refund for the value of the tickets (any extra booking/handling or mailing fees over the ticket price are non-refundable). You may be required to post us your tickets before a refund is issued.
