Bravehearts "A Midsummer Night's Dream" |
|

Aspiring actors aged 16 to 18 years work with critically acclaimed Australian Shakespeare Company actors and directors on a full scale production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Cast by audition, participants rehearse during one fun and intensive week in the school holidays, followed by one night a week for 12 weeks during Term 2 developing their character. They will learn fundamental acting techniques, understand the essentials of movement and voice whilst also discovering what it takes to mount a professional theatre production. The term concludes with a performance on the main stage of the Athenaeum Theatre, open to the general public.
Participants will need previous experience in drama, or have attended acting classes, be confident in public speaking and comfortable working in small groups, and learn their lines to performance standard. Costumes will be provided by the Australian Shakespeare Company and participants are required to provide their own make-up and shoes.
Course tutors are professional actors from the Australian Shakespeare Company ensemble with backgrounds in directing and teaching.
